Today, everyone is looking for ways to simplify the
complex things thrown at us by the world. We are all
looking for ways to simplify life. At Webbies, we face this
head-on everyday as our clients approach us to solve
problems for them. It was a similar situation with Sukhani
Stamps, India’s largest stamp collecting organization. So
how do you go about organising thousands and
thousands of stamps to be called up easily and make it
efficient enough for presenting to clients in a jiffy?
"Sukhani Stamps is India’s largest stamp collector. It has a collection to envy. However, they were unable to do justice to showcasing their collection to customers digitally. That is where we stepped in, creating a quick to navigate smart search engine, with a unified ERP that works end to end"
Transforming a 30 minute process to under 30 seconds,
with smart search, interested customer prediction and
HTML email integration.
Sukhani Stamps’ prior ERP listed stamps page wise, just indexed by number. Then the numbering of stamps was listed separately. To reach a stamp, one had to divide the index number by the number of stamps listed on one page and then go to that page accordingly. Making search no different than physically placing the Stamps in different boxes and searching each of them manually. Our challenge was to move beyond this complexity and deliver something entirely new to serve our clients.
Let's get a little into how stamps are classed. There are Categories, then there are Sub-Categories which are further classified into Sub-Sub Categories. It is a complex system as can be understood. The objective was to make search-specific sets of stamps appear at every beck and call.
Understanding the philately business can be a taxing task for outsiders. The main challenge was not to comprehend and not be swayed too much by the old ERP but try to simplify and look for the smartest and quickest way of completing the task.
We used a system which could filter out even from the Sub Sub category. Post long brainstorming sessions, an easy way of presenting the solution was developed. Three symbols, (. , /) were assigned to make it easy for the machine to understand which is being referred to.
For example, if the client searches for a category- India, ‘.India’ is typed into the search box then for sub-categories, type in: ‘,Used Abroad’. For a sub sub category, similarly ‘/Tibet’ is typed in. The symbol at the beginning signals to the software what it needs to filter from. Not only are these symbols easy to remember but also ergonomically efficient being placed in the ‘easy type zone’.
This is not it! A system to map clients of Sukhani Stamps based on their interests in different categories of stamps was also created. So that when the business is emailing out certain stamp information , a list of clients who might be interested in those will be automatically generated and added to the mailer list. This served as a boost to business development and was used as a marketing tool by Sukhani Stamps to send out regular, customized mailers to keep garnering interest. In addition, the entire system was mobile responsive thus making it accessible on the go.
• A front and centre search interface, where categories can be mixed and matched to arrive at desired results
• A customer section where email, name and customer interest are based on categories are collected
• An auto-mailer which combines products as per administrator’s preference
• A recommendation engine on possible interest of clients to send out email as per need
• Brought in efficiency to operation by automation and reduction in task time
• Brought focus on things that matter most- pitching to more clients and in turn generating more business
"The business has seen 10X the growth since the implementation of the system. Directors of Sukhani Stamps have travelled to 7 countries since implementation and set-up operations in Singapore. That proves both things, the success of the system in freeing up time for the directors as well as the positive impact on business growth."
We made search the centre piece of the entire system, one could navigate through categories by simply typing a comma (,) before it. A (.) full stop before a sub category. A slash (/) before a sub-sub category. They query within those set parameters. Making it super quick to get to any product
