Web Pages not only share information about but they are a platform to share stories, put forth legacies
and communicate the ethos of people/ brands/ organization, etc. Webbies believes in optimally using websites to tell the story of every client it works with. Our work with Bengal Rowing Club is an archetype of this commitment.
The Bengal Rowing Club is a rowing club located in Kolkata, India which was founded in 1929 by GD Birla. Located on the banks of Ravindra Sarovar lake, it boasts of a beautiful and memorable edifice. By transforming the physical into digital, Webbies used the club building to share stories and activities offered at the club.
As you scroll down, you see the building melting into the background and enlarge again as other objects appear in the forefront and then disappear. What we did was we designed just one building without adding any colour. The variation in Opacity and addition of the colour on the foreground helped the building adapt to different colours. The dark shaded area in the image takes on the darker shade of the colour whereas the transparent area has the same colour.
What we accomplished was basically analogous to putting coloured cellophane papers on a glass window to change the light hue of the room!
“Isn't it amazing how simple yet how brilliant this idea is? It’s a shame how rarely it has been used!”
• Digital content became easily accessible for club members
• The product became the talk of the town with the club and Webbies receiving commendations from all sides.
• This website set the tone for Club websites whereby Webbies started to receive collaboration requests from competitor clubs too.
