VALUABLE PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT TIPS FOR YOUR BRAND:

LETS DIVE BACK INTO CHILDHOOD: 

Let’s compare brand designing to the situation below. 

What if we tell you that your branding journey will take you back to your school days. For once you have to set aside your adulthood to time travel back to those classrooms which have made you the person you are today?  Your teacher’s command to ask you to stand up and answer those toughest questions will make you shudder again?  Or your nervousness in setting foot on the school auditorium stage will make you sweat in scare? Feels scary and nostalgic at the same time right?

Amazingly weird but worth it combination we say!

Now place your branding in your shoes and try to reflect. What if that little child in school was your brand whose identity was shaped by the constant chiseling of his/ her personality through adequate training and development as per societal norms.  Even coals turn to diamonds under tremendous pressure and action.  Very unconventional example but trust us, every bit of it is true.

To make this point crystal clear lets first reflect on

WHAT/ WHO IS A BRAND?

“A brand is a product, service, or concept that is publicly distinguished from other products, services, or concepts so that it can be easily communicated and usually marketed. A brand name is the name of the distinctive product, service, or concept.” WHAT IS BRANDING?  “Branding is a marketing process wherein the firm tries to create a unique image of the product in the minds of the customer and establish a differentiated presence in the market with the intent to keep the customer loyalty.”

THE BABIES OF BUSINESS WHO GROW UP TO RULE HEARTS AND MARKETS: 

If brand is the child or entity then brand designing is the process in which personality development and imaging happens in that entity over a period of time. It is how a brand is perceived by its target customers and what makes them stick to it despite immense competition in the market.  If brand is the baby, you as an entrepreneur is the parent, teacher or rather a mentor. You shape the persona of your brain child or rather in this case brand- child.

This makes your brand  ready to take on the world and carve a unique identity of its own for it’s customer-society. Strategic branding evokes positive feelings and emotional attachment of customers to your brand. They not only pay for your superior product but also your superior identity. Heard of Apple right?

SOME KEY TAKE-AWAYS OF BRANDING JOURNEY WHICH NO BUSINESS DEGREE WILL CARE TO SHARE:


1. PUT YOUR ZEN MODE ON – 

When you board into the ship of branding you need to put on your binoculars not only to see beyond the shores but to look deep within.  Self discovery and in this case brand discovery is a painful and time consuming process. But it is important to build strong roots of branding for a smooth plantation of business.  These questions will help you build the foundation of your brand identity. Also helps to speed up its brand equity in the market faster. Ask yourself certain questions which will help you find the purpose of your brand. A few compulsory questions to retrospect on are: 

  • What is your company’s mission?
  • Unique features of your products or services?
  • What do your customers and prospects already think of your company?
  • The qualities do you want them to associate with your company?
  • What does your company do for its customers?
  • How does your business impact employees?
  • What does your business do for the world?
2. GET YOUR BRAND HIGH THROUGH A TARGET AUDIENCE SPY: 

Get your brand high (not serious) by spying on your target audience. Your brand can climb heights of success when it is able to cater to the needs, desires,and habits of your target. Spies never assume where or what their target is doing. They pull up their socks, put on their James bond hat and get down to business. The thrill of the chase encourages them to flock to where their target is. conduct a full fledged well informed research.  

Via PRIMARY RESEARCH you can explore the problems faced by your target audience. Open minded interviews and surveys  can be conducted in small teams. Specific problems which has already been identified can be addressed in the group. The opinions of your target audience is the meat of your Brand pie. Without it your brand development and the end result  is bland. 

Whereas SECONDARY RESEARCH takes on the technical part of the process. This enables you to analyse data which is already available in the market. This includes statistics, trend reports and other types of data. This is important as this gives you an idea on what other fishes (your competitors) in the sea are doing . 

In short

Create your buyer persona    
Identify a capsule of that persona to engage.           
Engage your market research participants.  
Prepare your research questions. 
List your primary competitors     
Summarize your findings.

3. ADD A “G” INSTEAD OF B” TO DEFINE YOUR BRAND:

By grand we don’t only mean the outward look of your product. but also the values and the qualities your brand represents. After all looks are not everything. After you have defined your brand it is time to get to the real deal. Its like penning down an essay on yourself back in junior school where you tried to highlight the best of your abilities and qualities. These are some of the experimented guidelines for you to start 

  • Groom the face of your brand. In other words create an epic logo which resonates with the nature of your brand. 
  • Introduce your brand messaging like you would introduce yourself. Choose the key messages you want to communicate about your brand. 
  • Integrate your brand by nurturing good habits to it. Good habits build good character and nourish impressions. Branding extends to every aspect of your business. How you answer your phones, what you or your salespeople wear on sales calls, your e-mail signature, everything. 
  •  Find  a “voice” for your business that reflects your brand designing . This voice should be applied to all written communication and visual imagery. If your brand is sweet and friendly try to bring in conversations. If it is formal and serious maintain the decorum of professionalism. 
  • Make your brand taglines as creative as your light heart pick up lines. Trendy, meaningful and concise statement capture the essence of your brand.
  • Design templates and create brand standards for your marketing materials. Use the same color scheme, logo placement, look and feel throughout. You don’t need to be fancy, only consistent.
  • Honesty is the best policy. Be honest to your brand. Customers won’t return to you or refer you to someone else if you don’t deliver on your brand promise.
  • Take these above points as Gospel. These will take you a long way in creating a branding consistency. 
4. TOO MANY COOKS SPOIL THE BROTH:

Once you have decided on the above, it is time to get down to business. A brand designing company or a brand designer is the only person who can actually paint your brand in a canvas and bring it to life.  Best way is to create a mood board which will present you a variety of colors, typography, logos and pictures to choose from. This will help your brand designing team to get an idea on what you are actually looking for.  A web developer, web designer, graphic designer and a content creators is team enough for starters.  Canva also seems like  a pretty cool option if you are low on budget. 

5. GET YOUR BRAND TO SET THE STAGE ON FIRE: 

After months and months of intense hard work its time to pull up the curtains and set the stage on fire. The stage is the public platform where the audience gets to witness your brand and avail it’s performance. Time to turn to the media and bloggers to seek most coverage. Prepare a press kit from beforehand does the trick

  • PNG logos
  • Brand vision
  • A brief brand introduction of your products and services
  • Photos of your staff, products, and services
  • Press contact- someone the press can reach out to for quotes or supporting information
  • Link to press releases

How can we forget social media as one of the most potent marketing channels for your brand. Your brand designing is all set and ripe to join social media to attract its target audience and sell itself. Create your brand pages on Facebook and Instagram.

Create engaging graphics to hook your audience. This is one of the best ways to garner attention and capture leads. Conduct contests and giveaways to attract attention and make these potential customers glued to your brand.

For example if you have a make up brand, you can conduct make up look competitions and the best submission wins a hamper of your products.  Nykaa does a brilliant job in engaging beauty enthusiasts and young girls to pursue make up.    

Like we adore valuable human beings who make a difference, your customers should adore the brand you are. This works if you pour a bit of help and value to keep them going.
